Born on May 19, 1953 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Jimmy moved to Washington, D.C. at a young age and grew up there. Jimmy and Mark Wenner founded the NIGHTHAWKS in 1972 and became known as the “Hardest Working Bar Band”.
After 14 years and 20 albums as a member of the Nighthawks, Jimmy decided to go on his own to front his own band in 1986. Jimmy Thackery and the Assassins toured throughout the northeast, midatlantic, south and Texas regions until disbanding in 1991.
After the Assassins broke up, Jimmy led a trio and toured as Jimmy Thackery and the Drivers. Jimmy signed with Blind Pig Records. He would release “We Got It” in 2002 on the Telarc Label and teamed with the Cate Brothers to release “In The Natural State” in 2006. His latest disc, “Spare Keys”, was released in 2016.
